An Exciting New Way to Treat Plantar Warts

Clifton Foot & Ankle Center in Fairfax County, Virginia, is proud to offer Swift: a game-changing treatment for annoying plantar warts.
For decades, podiatrists have approached wart treatment from the outside: applying salicylic acid to peel the wart away layer by layer, freezing the wart using cryotherapy, or removing the wart with surgery. One of those tried-and-true methods to remove plantar warts might still be the best option for you. But Swift technology gives us a great new tool for treating plantar warts.
The Swift difference
Our new Swift treatment gets to the root of the problem: the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts grow when HPV infects the foot, usually through a cut in the skin. Using targeted microwave energy, Swift triggers an immune response. Your body fights the HPV infection, eliminates the virus, and the wart goes away. That’s good news for anyone who suffers from painful, persistent, or recurring warts on the bottom of their feet.
Wait, what – Did we say, “microwave energy?”
Microwave treatments have existed in medicine since 1986. Doctors have used the same low-energy technology as Swift for 35 years to treat several types of cancer. Swift technology is FDA-cleared, safe, and highly effective.
- is non-invasive. We don’t break, burn, freeze, or cut your skin. There’s no bandaging and no healing time.
- targets only the wart. Microwave energy goes precisely where we position a special probe. It targets warts head-on, roots and all, without damaging the surrounding skin.
- is short and sweet. Each treatment takes only a few minutes. Warts resolve for most people after a handful of treatments spaced four weeks apart.
- causes little pain. Everyone has a different pain threshold, but patients report that the pain of a Swift treatment is minimal and brief.
- doesn’t require any anesthesia, downtime, or after-care. After a treatment, you may feel some soreness, but you’re free to resume your regular activities immediately. It isn’t necessary to keep the area covered and dry for several days, as it is with conventional salicylic acid treatment.
