Fairfax County athletes and other active individuals have another great reason to consult with board-certified podiatrist Dr. Kenneth R. Wilhelm at Clifton Foot & Ankle Center. We offer several unique therapies and some of the latest technologies to treat foot problems quickly, safely, and effectively.
- Prolotherapy/ PRP Injections: this therapy uses the patient’s blood to promote healing.
“PRP” stands for “platelet-rich plasma.” We take a sample of a patient’s blood, then separate the white blood cells, red blood cells, plasma, and platelets. Next, we enrich the plasma with a greater concentration of the patient’s platelets. Finally, we inject this platelet-rich plasma (PRP) directly back into the affected area of the foot. This process, called prolotherapy, stops the degenerative process and accelerates the healing process for neuromas, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, bunions, arthritis, and other foot complaints.
- Swift: a non-invasive treatment for plantar warts.
Targeted microwave energy gets to the root of your wart problem in a matter of seconds, finally eliminating even the most stubborn warts.
- Cryotherapy: an alternative to Swift treatment.
Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy warts and other skin lesions. Whereas Swift treatment eliminates warts by attacking the root (where the virus causes the wart resides), cryotherapy removes the wart from the skin’s surface.
- Iontophoresis treats your sweaty feet in just a few sessions.
Iontophoresis controls excessively sweaty feet using a low-dose electric current to block the sweat from reaching the skin’s surface.
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Treatment heals chronic heel pain.
ESWT is an effective treatment for plantar fasciitis. We subject the inflamed plantar fascia (the tough ligament that runs along the bottom of your foot) to shock waves, which jump-starts the healing process. The shock waves can be administered in one high dose or a series of several lower doses.
