Spring could not seem further away for those of us in Fairfax County, Virginia. The vernal equinox came in right on the heels of a winter storm warning, and we thought we heard people all over DC are yelling “Snow way!” or something like that. Yes – Snow just won’t leave us alone.
Well, the good thing about these spring storms is that they tend to melt quickly. The bad thing about such a long winter is how many folks have spent it doing little in the way of exercise. Call it the winter blahs, an intense dislike of the cold, or what have you. Winter often spells a sedentary lifestyle for a lot of people. And if their waists have expanded, it’s safe to say that the extra inches won’t be melting as quickly as the inches of white stuff that just fell to the ground.

So, defy those leftover piles of snow and give spring the warm welcome she deserves by getting out there and walking the neighborhood, grabbing a copy of the Fairfield County Bicycle Map and hitting one of our region’s many bike trails, or inviting a friend to play some tennis.
